Netherlands heart journal : monthly journal of the Netherlands Society of Cardiology and the Netherlands Heart Foundation, Volume 32, Issue 5, 18 3 2024, Pages 190-197 Assessment of ICD eligibility in non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy patients: a position statement by the Task Force of the Dutch Society of Cardiology. van der Lingen ACJ, Verstraelen TE, van Erven L, Meeder JG, Theuns DA, Vernooy K, Wilde AAM, Maass AH, Allaart CP
International guidelines recommend implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) in non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) patients with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) below 35% despite optimal medical therapy and a life expectancy of more than 1 year with good functional status. We propose refinement of these recommendations in patients with NICM, with careful consideration of additional risk parameters for both arrhythmic and non-arrhythmic death. These additional p... PloS one, Volume 19, Issue 4, 16 3 2024, Pages e0300978 Computer based method for identification of fibrotic scars from electrograms and local activation times on the epi- and endocardial surfaces of the ventricles. Okenov A, Nezlobinsky T, Zeppenfeld K, Vandersickel N, Panfilov AV
Cardiac fibrosis stands as one of the most critical conditions leading to lethal cardiac arrhythmias. Identifying the precise location of cardiac fibrosis is crucial for planning clinical interventions in patients with various forms of ventricular and atrial arrhythmias. As fibrosis impedes and alters the path of electrical waves, detecting fibrosis in the heart can be achieved through analyzing electrical signals recorded from its surface. In current clinical practices, it has become feasible t... Abstract

Clinical & translational immunology, Volume 13, Issue 4, 15 3 2024, Pages e1503 SARS-CoV-2-infected human airway epithelial cell cultures uniquely lack interferon and immediate early gene responses caused by other coronaviruses. Wang Y, Thaler M, Salgado-Benvindo C, Ly N, Leijs AA, Ninaber DK, Hansbro PM, Boedijono F, van Hemert MJ, Hiemstra PS, van der Does AM, Faiz A
Objectives: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a member of a class of highly pathogenic coronaviruses. The large family of coronaviruses, however, also includes members that cause only mild symptoms, like human coronavirus-229E (HCoV-229E) or OC43 (HCoV-OC43). Unravelling how molecular (and cellular) pathophysiology differs between highly and low pathogenic coronaviruses is important for the development of therapeutic strategies. Methods: Here, we analysed the transc... Abstract
